Liverpool are watching Brentford centre-back Chris Mepham closely amid rumours of a move, as per Sky Sports.
Southampton have also been following the centre-back for several months now, but both teams are yet to register formal interest in the 21-year-old Wales international.
Brentford boss, Thomas Frank, on the other hand, is desperate to keep his best players at the club despite interests from many.
Chris Mepham alongside Ollie Watkins have been outstanding in this season campaign and both have been the subjects of Premier League interests despite the club holding on for dear life to avoid relegation zone.
Brentford valued both players highly, putting a £20m price tags on their heads last summer, but the value is thought to have depreciated since.
Chris Mepham may be the perfect man to fit the bill at Liverpool. The Welshman is a typical modern-day centre-half. He has good ball control and is able to distribute the ball accurately.
